The Nicotine Dependence Program (NDP) of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine provides counseling and resources for tobacco use cessation, training for healthcare providers in assisting patients in tobacco use cessation, and education and research in cessation practice. The NDP supports the UNC Healthcare System Tobacco Free Policy, effective July 4, 2007. From that date forward, all UNC Hospital, School of Medicine, and Campus Health Services buildings, grounds, and parking lots are tobacco free.
